Election Results

Have you ever thought about that term: “Election Results?” True results aren’t really available until a few months have passed and those elected citizens have shown us what they are made of.

Two years later we are now seeing the results of electing Barrack Obama, and a lot of like minded men and women, in 2008. We will see results of Tuesday’s election, good or bad, in time as well.

I can only imagine the pressure felt by those who are taking these seats for the first time, especially the folks who are given this opportunity because they were elected by the rest of us to clean up what we see as a mess. Where to begin, how to approach it and who can I trust? would be HUGE questions in my mind.

There is a song by Joel Hemphill that always runs through my mind when I ponder things like this. One of the lines says, “I do not know, how others make it through, who do not go to Calvary as I do.”

I will be praying, as I’m sure many of you will, that our elected officials, blue or red, will find their way to Calvary in the next few months. James 1:5 says “But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him.” I noticed this morning when I read that again that it is for “all” not just for the saints or the sanctified, but for all. Even those we don’t agree with, even those we have witnessed in their failings. All is everyone and God gives it generously and without reproach. I pray each one will ask…of God.
