A trite little phrase crossed her lips,
Ugly words driven hard to leave rips.
She looked over her nose,
At the husband she chose,
And drank her own poison in sips.
Wouldn’t you love to know her? (sarcasm intended)
Unfortunately not all limericks are funny. Sometimes I just write what comes to me.
My temptation here is to write a long commentary on this one but I know you’d rather I just let you think your own thoughts, picture the character and despise and pity her all on your own.
I gotta run anyway.
An excellent wife is the crown of her husband,
But she who shames him is like rottenness in his bones.
Proverbs 12:4
Even though this one isn’t funny, I really like it. It made me think of Proverbs 14:1 – “A wise woman builds her house; a foolish woman tears hers down with her own hands.” We need to be careful not to cause destruction to those very important pieces of the home. Thanks for reminding us Mary!
Despise and pity – both.
OOooooooh. Good one, Mary.
