Have you heard of dear Annabelle Flynn,
And the beautiful yarns she can spin?
It’s not on a spindle,
No indeed, it’s the Kindle,
Where her tales are quite short, but not thin.
Happy Friday everyone.
This evening will be the annual Kelso class Total Woman Retreat. I am expecting at least one more than last year, possibly two but I enjoyed our tiny crowd so much last year I am not at all put off by the small number. I do have quite a bit of cleaning yet to do. I remember I started much earlier and was able to get much more done last year, but I believe that having a two year old, as opposed to a one year old, has made a big difference in my cleaning speed. Aron is the most active of the three two year olds we have experienced in this house. More prone to curiosity and less able to control his urges, he is into much more. He doesn’t seem to be mischievous, and I don’t find him strong willed, just busy. He will stop his unruly activities quickly when admonished, but will move on without complaint to something new. I have to keep a closer eye on him. So, housekeeping sometimes waits much longer than it should.
Interestingly, housekeeping is our topic this year. Our title is “Godliness and What’s Next to It” and we’ll cover “A Clean Heart” tonight, “A Clean House” and “A Clean Slate” tomorrow. The last session is something I’m still a little unsure of. I really think that I want to give the girls an opportunity to dream a little. Open their hearts and minds to possibilities in their lives, where God could take them, and what He could do with them once they have established this new “clean” identity. His cleansing being that ultimate clean slate we work from.
Kris’ new client and the opportunities with that company are expanding and growing as he dives into the place. I am so thankful for him and the passion and integrity he puts into his work. I’m continually impressed with him.
I would really like to say more, but I have a lot to do, so I should go. Have a great weekend, and I’ll try to get a post up after the retreat and let you know how it goes.
I love that you’re talking about dreaming and going as far as God can take you. I feel soooooo many people live below their potential. They get stuck on the hamster wheel of life; doing the same thing day after day and never jump off that wheel to see what other cool adventures and opportunities life has for them. I’m probably the extreme of the opposite end of that spectrum, but I can’t imagine not jumping at every opportunity I see. If I don’t see opportunities, I go digging and looking for them. I don’t want to be in a rut, and I feel that when I’m not trying new things and exploring new territory, I’m not growing . . . I’m just spinning ’round and ’round on the hamster wheel. When I met you, I could barely sew a pillow. Then we started an amazing sewing group and I learned so much so quickly I went from mentored to mentor in that group. Who’d a thunk it!? 🙂 If my brain is not learning and being stimulated and challenged everyday I think my braincells begin to die off. Everyone says dream big, but I think start small. Break out of your norm. Bust up the routine. Learn something new. Try something new. Meet someone new. Check things off your bucket list. Little successes will give you the confidence, and experience to really dream big and be better prepared to shoot for that dream and better prepared to deal with any failures that come with approaching that dream!!! good stuff Mary. Good luck this weekend.
Oooh. Good stuff you Amber! 🙂
Small changes is exactly what I want to encourage them to do. The dreaming just gives them a direction. I made some further notes after I posted my blog and I’m pretty excited about it. Another aspect of dreaming and more importantly, making goals, that we don’t often include is realizing the benefits of serving others. If we make the dreams of others a part of our thought processes and goals we will find ourselves on a great ride. You are a great example of that in your relationships…always supportive and putting others first…yet never left behind. Exactly what God intended.
Preach it, Amber! 🙂
Good stuff.
I wish I had more time to comment coherently…but…go gettem’ girl!
