Not From Me

A slick fellow by name of McPhee,
Is disarming and sly as can be.
He could charm a small boy,
To give up his best toy,
But he won’t get a nickel from me.

It ain’t much but it’s what I’ve got at the moment.

We finally got our tree purchased and lit up last night. She’s void of decoration, but we’ll get there. I’m still planning to make my gingerbread cookies to hang and I think I’ll add some candy canes this year and that may be all we put on our tree this time.

I have to say I was highly disappointed in Home Depot this year. Our usual stop for Christmas trees was a cold welcome. An unlit area in front of the building with large crates of unwrapped trees was all that greeted us last night. We talked to a couple of the employees about our quest but with nothing to offer us in the way of a better way to select a tree than standing out in the cold and unwrapping individual trees one at a time, we moved on. Thankfully, Lowe’s had a better set up and we were able to find something decent in short order.

I am preparing for our Sunday school class Christmas party on Saturday evening. I’m really looking forward to it. We’re expecting around 20-25 people to attend and there won’t be any children. We designated this a kid free event so as not to overwhelm our home and allow our adults to freely mingle and get to know one another without so many interruptions or distractions. Our boys are going next door to Bobbie Jo’s house. She has been wanting an opportunity to celebrate all three of their birthdays with them and tomorrow night will do nicely. I will run over there and get them at their bedtime so that she will still have a good portion of her own evening to spend as she pleases. I am so grateful for good neighbors.

So today is cooking and cleaning day and I really haven’t gotten as far as I should be by now. I’m just a little tired. I will dig in real soon though and this place will be in tip top shape by 5:00 tomorrow. I promise.

  1. I feel ya. My decorations are still all over the house – in their boxes. I mean, we got the tree mostly done, but it took a good week. Hopefully, it will be finished on Christmas Eve.
