Everyday Life

As the morning has shifted into afternoon I am feeling a little more myself. Yesterday and some today as well I have felt quite ill. Not incapacitated but very unwell. I did have a slight fever and felt really nauseous. I didn’t want to cook anything so I pulled out frozen pizza for dinner last night. I like to have those on hand for exactly that purpose. They are rarely a meal of choice but they’ll do when the chips are down.

I was able to take the boys to the free movie at Providence this morning and though it was nice to be still, the screen was a little large for my still rumbling tummy. And Aron was a restless factor that almost caused me to take them all home early. I could only bear so much of his up and down as we sat among so many people. He was very quiet and didn’t seem to be disturbing anyone but me so we stayed. The older two boys were loving it. We saw “The Tale of Despereaux” and it’s a pretty complicated story for kids I think. It was sweet, but when I asked the boys about it, they couldn’t tell me much. I think I’ll quiz them again later and see what they remember.

I am wondering how I will accomplish dinner tonight, I have plenty of supplies at hand…just no energy to put them into some edible form. Raw chicken is not something that calls out to me when I’m not feeling well.

I have put some music on and the older boys are playing outside while Aron sleeps a little bit longer. I will conquer dinner somehow and while I do…I’ll leave you with some pictures we took this weekend.

Kris and I took the boys downtown to the pedestrian bridge near the football stadium and they had a great time looking at the river and running around in the sunshine. We ate at McDougal’s Coop in Hillsboro Village and took three very tired boys home with us afterward.

Owen looking at the river from the stadium side.

Owen goofing off.

This is the common view of downtown that you see in pictures of Nashville.

This is a new building just being finished up downtown.

Kris took most of the pictures that day but I had the camera for a little while and got this picture of them waiting for me and the camera to catch up.

Aron about to say cheese. When he actually says cheese, he screws up his face in such a way that it looks like he’s about to cry.

It’s hard to actually catch a smile on camera. He is very expressive and smiles a lot but not for the camera.

This one was just funny because he was fascinated that he could see the river down below him through this grate in the roadway. As we were walking away he said, “I hope daddy doesn’t push me down there.” What?

I just like this shot of Ivan. He is a very photogenic little guy and I am tempted to take loads of pictures of him.

  1. Love the pictures- hate it that you’re not feeling well. Let me know if you go to a free movie at Providence again. I want to take the girls but I don’t think they’re doing it in Cool Springs.

  2. We definitely do the free movie thing in the summers too – rather, I have my friend take them when she watches my kiddos during the day.
Sorry you’re not feeling well…hope things are looking up today.
I really, really love the photo of all your boys on the bench. Oh – and “I hope daddy doesn’t push me down there.” Haha! I kinda snorted because that made me laugh so hard 😉

  3. all such great pictures – thanks so much for sharing. yes, ivan is so photogenic and Owen would be too if he would stop the goofy poses! we probably won’t see a normal pic of him until he is a teen! I wish i was there to cook for you all today. Maybe kris could learn to cook hot dogs or something.

  4. You know it’s bad when *his mom* says “Maybe Kris could learn to cook hot dogs or something”!!! Oh my word.

Mary, I’m sure even Owen could put together something to eat on his own at this point- you rest. Cereal for dinner is acceptable under such circumstances.

Your photographs are great- always are. Kris has a talent for capturing people. (and it doesn’t hurt to have such adorable subjects… Ivan’s eyes draw you in)
