Getting There

I sewed together Mattie Kate III today. She turned out pretty well and Aron is having a blast with these little ladies. He squeals and says “Goggy!” which is of course translated doggy, whenever he sees them. Pretty much any stuffed animal that isn’t a bear is a doggy right now so I’m not offended by his reference.

So anywhoooo….here are a few pictures complete with captions to explain things better.

Mattie Kate III posing sweetly. She doesn’t have back feet and in the process of losing feet her middle had to be refitted and it didn’t come out even at the bottom. Mattie Kate IV will have a longer torso in the front and a larger base to support it. She is holding her head up well and though I thought I was making her front legs much thicker, they still look too skinny too me. Your comments are welcome.

This is Mattie Kate II, she doesn’t look a whole lot different from the first Mattie Kate but she does stand up much better.

Aron was in hog heaven…or is it bunny heaven…with all three Mattie Kates within arms reach.

A hug for Mattie Kate II.

…and a kiss.

Another angle on Mattie Kate III. The more I look at her the more I like her. She looks more feminine with her plump bottom and the skinny arms aren’t all that bad.

Don’t you wonder what she’s looking at?

  1. I love her! She’s so sweet. I don’t think that the arms look too skinny.

I was reading a magazine today that told the story of a woman who decided to start making teddy bears and it became a business and now her bears start at $175 each! God bless her but there’s no way I’d pay that much for a bear. Obviously there are people that think differently. That doesn’t really have anything to do with this but it made me think of it.

  2. Awwwww…I totally admire your stick-to-it-ness in making her *perfect*. Any of them are adorable and I’m looking forward to seeing the one in the fabric you chose for this purpose (though grandma’s fabric is really awesome!
