President Obama

It was just announced that Obama will be our next president. Granted it’s not completely over but with the projections so decidedly in his favor it does appear that John McCain will be getting some rest in the next few months.

Last night we watched McCain and Palin on Saturday Night Live’s special and watched her talk about looking forward to rest after the election is over. I can’t help but wonder, after all she and her family have been through, if she is even somewhat relieved by these results.

I am pleased that so many voted for McCain as well. The popular vote has been fairly close. I am also pleased that our country has elected a black man to be our leader. What a triumph for black Americans. I am amazed that there are still white voters who would not vote for him because of his skin color, but I am thankful that most of our citizens have greater vision than that.

We shall wait and see. Change is on the menu and I am anxious to see what our next president will do to serve us. I voted for a very different view of this horizon, but I am determined that my prayers will be wholeheartedly behind this man who so many look to for leadership. He is not the man I wish to follow, (I can’t say McCain was my first choice either) but I will certainly give him the respect his office demands.

So…Palin in 2012?

There are many who say,
“Who will show us any good?”
LORD, lift up the light of Your countenance upon us.
You have put gladness in my heart,
More than in the season that their grain and wine increased.
I will both lie down in peace, and sleep;
For You alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety.
Psalm 4:6-8

  1. “I will both lie down in peace, and sleep;
    For You alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety.
    Psalm 4:6-8″

    AMEN!!!

    Obama is neither the Saviour nor the Enemy. I pray for God’s will, and greater purpose to play out and know, without a doubt, that the Lord is in this election.

  2. I know you weren’t an Obama supporter but it is quite refreshing to hear you say such nice words about him. Haha. That being said, if Palin runs and wins in 2012, I’m moving to France. Or possibly Switzerland. 😉

  3. Michelle – I hear the skiing is good over there, but I don’t think you can run from bad leadership. If that were to happen, (and who knows if she would even consider running) you would just have to work hard for 2016. C’mon…I know your a warrior at heart…I don’t like to see you raising white flags and turning tail at the simple prospect of a battle. I’ve already heard more passion from evangelicals this morning, now that Obama has won, than during the campaign. The voting is over but the fight for 2012 has begun. My hope is that people will get on their knees before they start putting signs in their yards.

  4. Too many thoughts to post. I’m not angry that he won, I’m actually very hopeful that this will help to heal race relations in this country. And instead of Christians breating a big sigh of relief that McCain won perhaps this will inspire us to pray and “do” something.
