I don’t remember ever seeing snow in October before. I’m not saying it’s never happened but I don’t remember it. We are at dad’s house in Michigan and I woke up to use the facilities at around 4:15 this morning. As I passed the window I saw large snowflakes falling. I went downstairs to get a better look and had I been able, I would have taken a picture. The light on the back deck showed just enough of the scene for me to take in snowflakes the size of silver dollars falling “ker-plop” on the deck floor. Just above the deck rail, a large branch from the sugar maple near the house was hovering in yellow, orange and peach color. I’m glad I got to see the collision of the late fall and early winter and I hope that we can get some good pictures of the brilliant color still hanging around here.

I don’t know where the photo is now. It probably has the date on it, but I’d have to hunt for it. Anyway…my senior year in college I took a picture of one of the branches of the tree off our back porch of our apt. The green leaves were supporting snow that had fallen. They weren’t even orange or yellow, just green. Rare photo opp.
CR-AZY! I can’t wait to see the pictures. It’s pretty chilly here too- 29 tonight. It’s not Michigan but I’m still cold…
Hey, I remember it snowing on us at recess in October when I was in grade school – in Michigan, of course!
This post is the highlight of my day so far! So beautiful and serene – takes me back to my Minnesota childhood. Nighttime snow is the most quiet, peaceful thing.
I hope you get photos – I can’t wait to see them!
