The Tree

The big name cookies are hanging but I don’t know if they’ll last the season so I got pictures while I could. I had to hang them all pretty close to the top on the stronger of the accessible branches. Next year we’ll definitely try to go a little smaller but I do like them. I ran out of ribbon as suspected and still have nearly 40 cookies to hang once I get some more. So the tree picture isn’t the final product but I thought I’d share it anyway. It’s been fun taking it step by step and I hope I’ll be able to get a tree skirt done sometime next week.

  1. you are such an over-achiever! I don’t mean that in a bad way. With 3 kids all under 4, you do amazing feats!
The tree and cookies are great! Owen is a very blessed kid to have you do this with him!

  2. I’ve always loved your ginger cookie ornaments- such a cozy way to decorate the tree. Each year, it will get more fun for you to do it with the boys, and they will have those gorgeous memories of decorating the tree with the yummy smelling cookies that they baked with Mom. And- really!- what perfect font… tell me you didn’t freehand those! 😉

  3. No freehand interpretations here. I printed the letters from the computer and cut them out. I laid the paper cut outs on the dough and cut around them with a knife. I did try to choose something straight and boxy so that it wouldn’t take a long time or a lot of dexterity. I may try to do different fonts each year, just for fun! I am hoping to find a couple different shapes for cutters too, maybe after Christmas they’ll be on sale.

  4. That is so sweet. I really like the cookies.
And I’m sure that this will be something that the boys will always remember. And I love it that you’re raising 3 boys that won’t be afraid of the kitchen when they grow up. That is a rare but totally valuable quality in a man.
