Well, my sister and family left us this morning. I am tired and I haven’t done a bloomin’ thing today. I do feel like doing something now this afternoon so I am up and running for a little while. The kitchen needs cleaning, it always does, and the bed needs to be made, and the floors really need to be vacuumed, but that will wait. For now I’m going to take one day at a time and enjoy the process of cleaning each room one at a time. I have just under three weeks until my due date, that’s plenty of time to get some cleaning done. I am sort of looking forward to it all.
We had a nice time with Tim and Kristy, they helped a lot with kids and groceries and it was just nice to hang out. They were busy and gone a lot too but I was glad that we were able to be home base. The boys enjoyed each other and I enjoyed watching them interact. It was intense at times but you really get a picture of all the personalities when you throw them together like that. My boys showed me some real good things, as well as some frustrating selfish things. They are at an age for selfishness so I’m not too surprised but I was amazed at what brought things out in them. Owen and Clay fought about who would pray over dinner almost every day and Ivan and Thadeus fought over anything the other one had in his hand at the time. I hate that our weather was so hideous while they were here. It kept the boys indoors way too much.
I didn’t take a lot of pictures because I just felt like I couldn’t lift the camera half of the time. Yes, I know that’s pitiful. I know that I will wish I had taken more, but I also know that I will remember why I didn’t and how I felt. I think there will be plenty more opportunities for pictures and I’ll be glad to take advantage of them at that time. Above is a picture of Saturday’s activities up at Bobby and Becky’s. We celebrated Thadeus’ 2nd Birthday and all the cousins got to play and even spend a little time out in the little pool. Quite a little passel aren’t they?
So…here’s my list of things I’d like to do before the baby comes:
wash all the sheets
vacuum each room and especially the stairs
clean the bathrooms
reorganize the baby room
paint picture frames for the baby room
desk cleaned off!
That’s about it…of course that doesn’t include just daily cleaning in the kitchen and general straightening up around the house, but that’s enough for me.
I’m thinking the vacuuming might just send me into labor. Oh, and I’m not sure how I’m going to get the sheets off and back on the bunk bed mattresses. Maybe I’ll have to harness some hidden domesticity in Kris and put him to work. I’m sure he’ll help if I ask nicely. He’s a pretty good guy.
I wouldn’t care so much about the cleaning except that with home birth comes home visitors so I’d like them to at least think we have some form of order here. I don’t know if I’ll be going up and down the stairs right away either, so if I have to accept guests in my room or in the chair in the play room I want things to be clean up stairs too. I know Kris will do his best to keep things orderly and he’s pretty efficient once he gets started but I’d like to give him a clean slate to start with.
I’m getting excited.
I’m getting excited for you! Can’t wait to meet the little guy. We’re willing to help in any way we can. If you’d like to send Owen for a sleepover, or for me to watch the kids during the day…let me know.
The home stretch! Nest away girlfriend….just save the vacuuming for last.
Quite the passel is right. Soooo cute all of them! Good luck with your last few weeks. I just hope that maybe Kris will vacuum for you! No early labor!
