I had a productive day yesterday in most respects. I cleaned out the boys closet in their bedroom. I still have the same amount of stuff in there but it is now in labeled boxes and ready to be dealt with as soon as the knowledge of gender of third child is determined. Previously, one foot into the closet and lean was the only means of gaining what’s inside, now you can actually step inside and do a little dance. Which is what I did of course, because I was so happy it was done. The motivation to do it came in the form of LaDonna informing me on Wednesday that more clothes were on the way for Ivan. That didn’t pan out, but thankfully when it does, I will be ready.
After nap time in the afternoon we all got ready to go get mommy a hair cut. Upon recommendation I tried Breon Salon in Berry Hill. It is literally two minutes from Kris’ office so I made the appointment for 5:00 allowing him to meet me there, trade cars and take the boys home with him. All went well and Kelly did a good job helping me to achieve the burnished tresses I so desire. I explained to her my changing hair and the curls that have suddenly made their way into my life. I like curls but have little experience in dealing with them or making them look like I intended to have them. After discussing what I need to do to work on my hair we decided on leaving the salon with a curly look which took no time at all and with the help of a tiny dollop of product and a diffuser I was out the door with ringlets.
Immediately after the salon was a quick trip home, a dash into the van and ride to the church for Leadership Dinner. The ubiquitous lasagna was devoured and we were sent to our respective meetings. The Women of Worth Seminar is fast approaching and our Ladies Board had a few details to nail down. I have little responsibility in terms of organizing or administrating anything for the event. I am only doing the fun stuff: a skit and teaching. I will meet up next Thursday morning to help pack the little gift bags and will be there early for each session to lend a hand where I can. I am excited about the event and really believe that the whole thing is being orchestrated beautifully to minister to the women in our church. The focus of the weekend will be on contentment which is what I had originally asked to teach on and seems to have grown into a theme for other classes, as well as the subject of the Friday night service. It was a late night and the Kelso household was quick to bed and quick to sleep.
It is now Friday and the outdoor atmosphere promises to be warm and inviting so I am conjuring plans for a walk or some other form of family activity. First I must make this headache go away. Pound, Pound, Pound, squint, crouch. I don’t like it. Maybe food will help.
Ooooh. Can’t wait to see your hair!
It sounds like you’re busy, busy, busy as usual. Good luck on the conference and congratulations on the closet- that is no small task. I’m looking forward to seeing your hair too.
You’re probably not going to see much difference in my hair. I was hoping that she could recommend a couple of things for when my hair is straight and we never really got to that point (ran out of time) so I don’t really look all that different unless I do the curly look which Kris doesn’t really go for, so there’s not much to see.
Am I the only one with a Muppets song in my head? (“Moving Right Along”)
Sorry, Tiz but I haven’t heard that one so I guess you *are* the only one with the muppets in your head- teehee.
Mary, have you thought about using a flatiron? There are top of the line ones that cost big $$$ but I got a pretty good one at Wal-Mart for about $15 that I like. The brand is Andis and I can blow dry and straighten my hair in 15 minutes. It’s a super simple option and I don’t use any products. Of course, you may be thinking that I need product and maybe I do but I haven’t the time nor the resources for that. And with soon to be 3 kids I can’t imagine you’ll have a ton of time for hair stuff either.
