Wednesday was Valentine’s Day and Kris came home with a gift as well as roses and a card. I was surprised and felt quite spoiled. We had church that night of course so there were no plans to spend the evening out somewhere fancy. As it turned out Ivan had a fever and I had to stay home with him while Kris took Owen on to church. We were both scheduled to work in the nursery so there was no thought of both of us staying home. Originally Owen had said he wanted to stay home as well, but when he saw Kris with his coat on he looked at me and said, “don’t let him leave us mommy.”
Saturday we woke up to snow again and of course promptly thanked God for it since Owen has been praying for more of it for the past couple weeks. God delivered and it was a beautiful snowy day. Kris lit a fire for me in the fireplace and we spent the morning near it’s warmth playing with the boys. We found out that night that Sunday School would be canceled for the next morning but church was still in the plans so we were able to sleep in a bit for a Sunday morning.
The boys and I felt a bit “puny”, as they say here in the South, all day yesterday. My nausea free days seemed to run out for me and Owen and Ivan both seemed to be unable to be comforted. Kris and Owen ran some errands in the afternoon and while they were gone I held Ivan for a bit in my chair where he fell asleep. Owen saw us when they got back and quickly found a spot in the crook of my other arm where he could snuggle in and before long he was also asleep. This happened around 5:30 and though we questioned it, we decided to lay them both down and see what happened. Would you believe they woke up at 6:00 the next morning? Both of them slept more than 12 hours and both of them are like brand new little boys today. I’m so glad we let them sleep. I have felt better today but still not as energetic and comfortable as I was. I am expectant that tomorrow will be an even greater improvement.
Glad you boys are doing better, I just wish you weren’t feeling “puny”.
Way to go, Kris on the flowers and card. You deserve to be pampered a bit, Mary. 🙂
Those are very pretty flowers! And I know how it is when kids go to sleep so early. It is such a gamble. We tried when Chloe was younger to let her sleep and at times it was fine and other times she woke up at 2am ready to play. I’m glad it worked out for you though- they obviously needed it.
