Merry Christmas

Kris and I decided somewhat last minute to invite the Buttons and Fadely’s over for a Christmas brunch on Friday. We had a great time and Kris took pictures but I haven’t even looked at them yet. I will probably post some of them later when we are back in Nashville. Eric who had to work, and Amanda who wasn’t feeling well, were unable to make it but all the small children were there and Travis, Amy and Tisra were wonderful company. It really felt like Christmas with food laid out and good friends conversing while kids played in the bonus room. I think Tisra is hoping to do it all again once we enter the new year and I’m all for it.

The following morning we left Nashville to spend Christmas in Michigan. We arrived at Dad’s house in very good time. The boys were excellent travelers, Owen was happy and told us whenever he needed a potty break. Ivan was content and never got restless or cranky. I was so thankful!

We stopped for lunch in Indianapolis and visited with Mark and Keri who are expecting their second child in February, a boy. Little Emily, their two year old, is becoming more beautiful each time I see her. We crowded their already packed day but it was so nice to visit with them again.

This morning we all attended church at the church formerly known as South Colon Mennonite. This is the church I grew up in and there are still a lot of the familiar faces and a whole lot of new ones. I opted to go there because it would be the only opportunity to see some of my cousins but as it turned out I didn’t get much opportunity to visit with them. I went to get my kids from the nursery and when I got back up to the lobby the rest of the gang was headed to the van so I didn’t even say goodbye to them. Bummer. Joel, who drove separately told me later that my cousin Nate was a little miffed at me but I’ll explain myself through e-mail and hopefully gain forgiveness.

We bought the option to watch the Titan’s game through Pay-Per-View and were able to watch them win. This is good. The sun is shining and I think I’ll see if Owen wants to go outside and swing or something before it hides away again. I don’t know how much more we’ll get of sunshine this week.

Tomorrow is Christmas day and we will have our little family celebration over Turkey and dressing along with a few sides and dessert. Joel and I will probably do most of the cooking. It won’t be all that elaborate.

I hope that everyone is having a great time with friends and family and that your Christmas is one to remember fondly. God Bless!
