So Much Going On

I have been preparing for the Night Of Laughter and it is going well. The girls are ready the microphones, the lights, the cameras all the trimmings are standing by waiting for their cues. We had a rehearsal on Tuesday night and afterward I was exhausted and buzzing with nervous thoughts. Will the chaos that we experienced be calmed by Friday? By the time I woke up yesterday morning my fears were gone. I think it’s going to go well and I think everything will work out just fine. I am confident in everyone and their ability to do their jobs, and my only concern is that I get too caught up in what is happening at the moment to be prepared for what will happen next.

The boys are so good. I have been somewhat neglectful as you can imagine and they have borne it well. Yes, they complain, but I can’t really blame them. Most of the time they resign themselves to playing together or at least in the same room quietly and I am free to work. I am thankful for my boys.

Owen’s birthday is tomorrow. We will have his party on Saturday since the Night of Laughter was scheduled tomorrow night. I hope to unload all my stress Friday night by laughing my head off and then I’ll be ready to do all the last minute things for Owen’s party on Saturday morning. There isn’t much to do and I’m hoping that I haven’t overlooked anything important. We will keep it simple and pray that the weather remains pleasant so the kids can play on the play ground.

Ivan is getting bigger and stronger all the time. He loves to eat and loves to move around and get into things. He is much more the hands on curious sort than Owen and has kept me on my toes. He is quick to laugh and almost always has a grin ready for us.

In extended family news: My uncle Merlin is recovering in the hospital. He and his family had quite a scare on Monday when he lost feeling in his right leg and arm. Once he got to the hospital they gave a grim diagnosis and rushed him to Kalamazoo for immediate surgery. His aorta had ruptured and this isn’t something you simply get over. The doctors prepared the family for the worst and even if that didn’t happen he would likely lose his leg they were told. Prayer requests were quickly circulated around the world, thanks to modern technology, and believers were called on to lift him up in prayer. Merlin got through the eight hour surgery very well. He kept his leg and is responding just as he should be. We are all very, very thankful. Merlin’s kidneys are a source of some concern at the moment so we are asking people to pray that they would work as they were created to work. God is good.

Today has been a more relaxing day. I have done some housework and we made a trip to the grocery store but I have not felt rushed or pulled or overwhelmed and I hope things remain that way. I’m looking forward to an evening at home with my men.
