Snow!

snowy yardYeah! We finally got some snow. It won’t be here long so I don’t want to waste too much time typing about it. I need to get my boy Owen out there to freeze his toes off in it.

It started falling last night and Ivan and I happened to be out in it. I had a meeting with some of the women at church and it was turning to snow just as I pulled into the church parking lot. By the time we were done it was covering the ground but the roads were just a little wet…no problem. It was beautiful in parts of my drive home. On Shute lane, for those who are familiar with it, there is a section of roadway that is canopied by trees. It was especially beautiful last night as each limb and twig was frosted with snow. Any bit of light was reflected off of the snow making it nice and bright outside even late at night. I love snow.

A Ball of IvanThis morning Owen looked outside and didn’t say anything. I asked, “do you see the snow on the ground?” He said he did and then said “you see the e-mail on the ground?” What? He was noticing anything and everything planted or sticking up out of the ground. The mail box is what he was referring to. When we went downstairs I opened the curtains covering the patio doors. He said…”snow on the deck…it’s messy.” I guess he just noticed that it was everywhere, as if someone had spilled it and left a mess. Suddenly it wasn’t as pretty to me…but I got over it.

Yesterday, Ivan was laying on my bed and I noticed that his jammies looked a little empty in the arms and legs. He had completely balled himself up in the trunk of his little outfit.

  1. It’s fun getting to see a childs first real reaction to snow.

The girls have announced that they want to make a snow man family including a baby, dog, ferret and a fish. I tried to tell we don’t have that much snow, but they just won’t understand until they get into it and figure it out for themselves.

  2. That snow wouldn’t be bad but we have 3 times that and it’s still snowing with a cold wind. I’m with Owen, messy

  3. My favorite thing about infants is the way they ball up as if still inside you. Love it. Just want to pick them up like that and snuggle them. mmmmm
Bella thought the snow was neat until she face planted into it. Then it was time to go in. Emma used her sled for the first time since she was 2. She made snow angels too.

  4. I saw the most beautiful baby girl today……..we are talking about an arrangement for her and Ivan!

    Owens comments are so cute.
