Daddy’s Home

Kris and the boysKris arrived home late Friday night. He flew in from DC and I packed up the boys to go and pick him up. Owen and I got out of the car once I caught a glimpse of him inside the building waiting at baggage claim. As he came outside and Owen recognized him I had to hold him back from darting across the roadway to greet him. He was so excited to see him. Friday was also Kris’ 30th birthday and had he flown in earlier I would have tried to gather friends and family at the airport to meet him as he came down the escalator to baggage claim. As it was, 11:00 p.m. is just a bit too late to ask anyone to be out in the cold so I happily met him with just our small welcome crew and carried him home in our little red wagon.

Saturday we lounged away the day, resting with the football games on and playing with the boys. It was so good to have Kris home and not feel the need to do much of anything. I had tried to have the house presentable and the laundry done so we were free to relax.

Sunday after church I tried to put a little birthday party together for Kris. It didn’t really work out as I’d hoped but I don’t want to go into it. It wasn’t horrible or anything but my ability to plan an event is certainly in need of some tweaking. The people who gathered with us were wonderful and we really ended up having a good time.

Today we are playing a bit, doing a little laundry and enjoying ourselves. I am slowly but surely cleaning off my desk again. It is amazing how quickly it becomes cluttered. Hopefully by days end I’ll have a little elbow room.
