28 years ago I was excited and ashamed of myself when we got the phone call at home that mom had had a fourth girl. I had been the lone proponent of this baby being a girl and when I got my way, I suddenly felt bad that everyone else was “disappointed” (no offence Kristy). It had never occurred to me before that my two year old brother, Joel, might be better off with at least one other boy in the family. And at 5 years old I felt I was to blame for his misfortune. However, having a little sister had definite advantages and my brother soon learned what a great sounding board she was and how tough sisters are when it comes time to wrestle and play ball. Granted we weren’t exactly tom boys, but we held our own. I am so thankful for each of my siblings and the way they have each helped to make me what I am, but today I’ll say my thanks to God for my only little sister and pray her day is full of good things and happy moments.
On a more serious note, it was a year ago that we thought of Kristy’s birthday with even more thankfulness. Knowing that she and her family were alive after experiencing the terror’s of the tsunami in Thailand. What a contrast to their Holiday’s and birthdays this year as they are all aglow from Christmas in North Carolina and preparing for Christina’s (her sister in law) wedding day. Blessings to the Hall family and may this year fully overshadow the last.
Awww. What sweet things to say; I wish I had a sister.
You are a great sister!
