Early this morning, around 4:00 a.m. I was awakened by Kris talking to Owen, asking him what he was doing. I looked over and there was Owen sitting on the floor on my side of our bed, just a silhouette in the dark. Kris and I both explained to him that he needed to return to his bed, that it wasn’t morning and that he needed to stay there. He got up slowly and with his head down slowly shuffled back toward his bedroom. As he was leaving we caught a glimpse of something white hanging out of his pajama shirt. Kris asked about it and I explained that I had safety pinned a burp rag into the inside of his shirt so that I could rub Vicks on his chest for the night. Owen was called back and I assured Kris that he could remove the rag at this point. It had gotten somewhat bunched up inside his shirt and was making him uncomfortable. Kris took the rag off and sent Owen back to bed…this time he bounded back to his bed happy as can be and as we lay there trying to get back to sleep we could hear him singing in his bed. I don’t know if he ever went back to sleep or not, but I did.
Evidently before I woke up Kris had heard Owen coming into the room and repeating the same phrase over and over until one of us woke up. He was saying in a monotone voice, “I need help…I need help…I need help…”
In other news Kris’ long coveted camera was delivered yesterday. It is sitting here on his dresser and since Grandpa and Becky and the kids are coming over this afternoon I’m going to snap a few of the cousins. I want to get one of Grandpa holding Ivan if I can. So…I’ll post those later.
– 30 minutes later –
Owen must not have gone back to sleep because I just tried to feed him his lunch and he nearly fell asleep on the table. Poor baby couldn’t even finish his favorite thing…peanut butter and jelly. He’s in bed now.
What?! You say peanut butter and jelly is his favorite thing to eat. This is all news to me [knowing grin]. Love that guy.
I happen to know he’s quite fond of meatloaf, mash potatoes and rolls w/ herbed butter too. What a cutie.
