Can I have Bite?

cookies Owen loved making the gingerbread cookies yesterday. He stood by the counter with me, dumped in the ingredients and pressed the cookie shapes. It was a process because of letting the dough chill in the fridge and then hitting nap time before it was done. Owen remembered after his nap though and we jumped right back into our little project as soon as nap time was over. When it was all said and done it was time for me to leave for my choir rehearsal at church. Kris let Owen eat two small cookies that were a little broken and the rest were left sitting on the cupboard waiting for ribbon.

When I got home from rehearsal, I considered putting all the cookies away in something but thought…they’re just going to hang on the tree it’s not as if we need to worry about them getting stale or anything, so I left them out. Last night was a rough night with Ivan and we were up very late trying to comfort a very fussy, very wide awake baby. It was his first night of misbehavior so we didn’t beat him this time. He has been warned though. Ivan on his quiltThis morning we were extremely tired, as you can imagine. Though Owen didn’t come into our room and insist on our waking up, he was up early and played on his own for a while. By 7:45 I heard the stomping of little feet downstairs and I remembered the cookies. I got up and sure enough, at the bottom of the stairs was my little cookie monster munching away happily at a star shaped ornament. I couldn’t punish the poor kid. He had no supervision and he was hungry…he was just fending for himself. I was more upset with myself for not getting up and finding him something healthy. I don’t know how many he ate but he still downed a banana and a yogurt and wanted more, so it couldn’t have been too many, could it? He’s still asking for cookie…”can I have bite?”

I finished Ivan’s quilt yesterday and he seems to like it. I should post more pictures of it but I’m not going to right now. Right now I need to feed him before he starts asking for a cookie.

  1. From what I can see, the quilt looks amazing!!! And you’re amazing for having finished it already. I remember still being rather energized with my second baby, too. I was out excercizing a few days after Dean was born, and baked bread and felt great. At about one month old, I went a little crazy because of him not yet sleeping through the night, but other than that I hopped pretty well back into routine. Looks like you are also. 🙂 (Now THIRD baby is a different story…I’m *still* getting used to it all, and she’s ONE!)

  2. Well, we aren’t exercizing yet, and I’m still trying to take it easy and make sure I don’t regress on my healing but I am feeling a lot more energy now that we are home. I think I’ll need a nap today in order to maintain that. Poor Kris doesn’t get one and he was up almost as much as I was.

  3. Oh come on, Mom. Ivan wants a cookie too! he he. Glad you got the quilt done. And that your gingerbread cookies came out well.
