We stayed at the hospital last night in hopes of helping with Ivan’s 8:00 p.m. feeding. I held him and placed the bottle in his mouth and after some coaxing he sucked on it. I was so pleased. When we had tried it that morning it sort of upset him, but this time he actually was able to take in about a 5th of the little bottle by mouth and then the rest was poured down his feeding tube. He worked so hard and I know when that stupid tube is gone it will be so much easier for him to suck and swallow. He also opened his eyes for us for the first time while we hovered over him and his bottle. We were so excited to see it and so happy that we could be the ones he was looking at when he decided to take a peek.

I’m still upset that you didn’t make it to Lael’s birthday party last night. I mean, where are your priorities?! 🙂 Praise God for the new doctor and for Ivan’s eating. I know he’ll have little problem when the feeding tube is out; it’s breaking his suction and making it hard to swallow, surely.
Praise God, he ate, opened his eyes and looked at his mommy and daddy!
