As the doctors did rounds this morning we were pleased to see a more positive doctor and likewise more positive approach when discussing Ivan’s condition. This morning there was no talk of spinal taps or PIC lines or any other new procedures. It was more along the lines of “get this kid a bottle and treat him like a normal baby!” I like that.
According to the new doctor we need to simply finish our 7 days of antibiotics and monitoring and we will probably be given the green light to go home. No, he is not feeding from a bottle yet, and no he didn’t quite get it when we tried it this morning, but in a few days…he will. He has made tremendous progress and I’m very confident that this trend will continue. Yesterday they started feeding him breast milk for the first time (through a feeding tube) and he had such good results, I’m sure the next few days will be just as encouraging.
Last night was probably our last night in the little sleep room here so we’ll be travelling back and forth from home the next few days. I’m hoping that we can get through that without too much confusion and frustration. I’m also hoping this will allow us to spend more time with Owen. I miss him. We will take it all one day at a time.
I need to go get more milk for Ivan so I must close but please check Kris’ blog as he is able to update a bit more often and will be adding some new pictures as things progress.
Thanks again to everyone for your prayers and your help.
Good for you!
When Emma was in the NICU it was so hard after they discharged me. I’ll double up on the prayers. But you will be fine, not recovering from a c-section.
My goodness I stop reading all of my online journals for a few days and I come back to a nice suprise. I’m glad the little guy is doing well. Congratulations. He’s adorable!
Mary, I love your new website! I had not seen it since I’ve been remiss in keeping up with blogs in general. It is so you! And I’m so happy for you and Kris and Owen, even if little Ivan made a speedy entry into this world!
He just wanted to be home for Christmas!
