Everyday Life

Rainy Sunday

It’s been a whirlwind weekend so far. Friday afternoon Amy Button and her “three beautiful daughters” (Chloe’s precious assessment and I agree) showed up at the house to begin their search for a place to live. Travis was offered a job in Nashville (let’s hear it for Eric and HMS) and they have decided to return to Tennessee to live and breath and have their beings. Travis soon followed on Saturday evening and we have really enjoyed having them here. It’s extra people but they are some very comfortable people to be around and therefore we have decided to not just let down our hair and have a good time…we didn’t even put it up to begin with.

We all went to church this morning and Travis and Amy joined us in our Sunday School Class making it a whopping 4 couple class today. Kris had an excellent lesson on conflict resolution and Amy actually got saved as a result. Okay…that’s not true…she was already saved, but she did say she thought it was a good lesson. I thought so too and would encourage all of you who read my humble banter to pray for more couples who could be edified and enlightened to join us in our quest for greater marriages.

Later as I sat in my chair in the choir room I was stirred again at the power there is in the unity of believers. We hadn’t even gotten to the sanctuary yet and I was all overcome sitting there among my sisters in Christ (who sing alto) realizing how little it matters that there are some in the church who would risk fellowship by being divisive…what a contrast to what God intends for his children. I’m so thankful that I can look at certain faces around me and know that I am loved and prayed for and absolutely believe that God has me in the right place.

Our service this morning was the last of Pastor’s series on Witchcraft. It’s not a series on the dark and menacing evils of wizardry or anything like that…it’s an education on the deception in the different types of witchcraft. Today was on rebellion and I got mad and walked out. Just kidding. It was interesting because he talked about bitterness and how we walk away from God in rebellion when we refuse to accept His love over our wounds.

We joined the Buttons for a quick lunch at Wendy’s and then headed home. They are off looking at houses and apartments and I hope they are very productive despite our fickle weather. Owen is in his bed and I am about to be. I crave nap.

It’s a good day…I’m a good girl…I’m a goody goody…I shop at Goody’s…Moody and Goody don’t rhyme…random and goody have nothing to do with each other…until now…or do they?
