Slowly, add flour mixture to sugar mixture and mix well

it's a boyWell, we had our ultrasound last night and to Kris’ great relief and my minor disappointment we are not having a girl. The disappointment is quickly being replaced by the excitement of what is to come in Owen having a brother and the contentment of knowing we don’t have to completely redecorate a room. I don’t think I was really up for that yet. We are not yet decided on a name but will probably post it as soon as we have reached that point.

The ultrasound showed that we are having a very healthy little man and it was fun to watch the little guy move around for us. He was more active than Owen was for his first picture but not as cooperative in revealing his gender. Is more active and less cooperative a sign of things to come? Oh dear! I pray not. We begin immediately confessing him to be a good boy and deny him the right to prove us wrong.halfway mark

In other news…My quilt is officially halfway done.I’ve been saying that I’m nearly halfway for months and months. I haven’t worked on it in probably 2 months at least so I couldn’t say anything else. Today I got to the very middle square and in the photo (pardon my poor photography) you can see that it is half quilted marking the halfway point for the entire quilt. I was excited and I feel like I may actually finish it. I think I’ll keep it too. I was going to give it to someone…but I think it has too many mistakes and I’d rather not give someone something that isn’t my best.

To update the news on the Jones family…Amber had surgery yesterday and it went very well. She is recovering and though the leg was able to be set without pins and other metal paraphernalia, she will probably have to have it reset in the future due to swelling keeping it from setting perfectly. She is a trooper and is doing very well. Her spleen is very badly damaged and though they opted not to remove it at this point, they are watching it closely and we are all praying that God will continue to heal her and specifically touch her little body in this area.

  1. Well, it’s the same quilt I’ve been working on for ages so I don’t know how impressed she’d be. Since my 91 year old grandmother can turn them out in about a week I feel a bit bashful about showing her my slow work.

  2. I am really excited for you both. Maybe it’s because I ended up being the mother of two boys, and have enjoyed thier interactions and love watching their brotherly bond. It is lovely. Great things are ahead!

  3. Funny, I read your dad’s comment and thought he was talking about the ultrasound- that she would be intersted to see a photo of that. And I began wondering why she would specifically be more interested than any other member of the family. Really, the quilt thing makes more sense. 🙂

  4. Travis and I were talking last night about how funny it is that all of our friends have 2 children of the same sex. The Fadely’s (until Lael, of course), the Spitters (no news yet on the gender of the newest little one), us, and now you guys.

It is cool for the kids to grow up with sisters or brothers. Halle and Chloe love each other so much and I always wanted a sister.

    Congratulations!!!

  5. Thanks for the update on Amber. I haven’t heard any new news since Monday. So glad she didn’t need any pins or screws. Congrats on your little boy! and the quilt of course.

  6. Congratulations! Two little boys…how fun! But you know what comes after two little boys, don’t you?
