Everyday Life

1 teaspoon Baking Soda

I’m tired. We went to the mall yesterday instead of the zoo. It was too hot to go to the zoo. Unfortunately, it was too hot to go to the mall as well. I was sweating as I walked around and I didn’t like it much. I also hadn’t had enough breakfast to keep me going so I had to get myself an emergency hamburger at Burger King to tide me over until lunch. It helped some but I was still a bit off until I had a burrito at Baja Burrito. Yummy goodness. Juda and Keith enjoyed it and we went from there back to the house and relaxed for a while. Owen took a long nap and Juda and I made a birthday cake for Keith. He turned 20 yesterday and though it was a small party, we celebrated with cake and ice cream. That night we got back in the car and drove to the Opryland Hotel so that Juda could experience that. She has seen the Gaylord Palms in Orlando but it is quite a bit smaller and does not seem to match up to our hometown hunk of indoor garden. We drove separate so that we could get Owen home at a decent time and allow the young couple some time to themselves.

Today we drove down to Kris’ cousin’s property south of Leipers Fork. Juda had never been there and the house they are building is near completion. The last time we were there he was just getting the basement dug. Today it was nice to see everything nearly done inside and out. We got a good idea of how it will all look finished and it’s going to be very nice. The builder has done a great job and the house is very large and accommodating. It’s obviously built for entertaining and housing out of town guests. We drove back north again to Cool Springs for lunch at Ginghis Grill and then back to Franklin to walk around a little at The Factory. We saw some nice shops but I don’t think any of us were in the mood to spend much time lingering, so we moved on quickly. Back to Cool Springs for ice cream at Maggie Moo’s. That was a nice treat on a hot day and by the time we were done I think we were all ready to get back to the house.

So…here we are. Tired, but refreshed by the air-conditioning. It’s good to relax. I’m hoping that we can just settle in for the rest of the day and enjoy the quiet of home. Keith and Juda are leaving in the morning and I will be watching Joey again tomorrow. Here we go!

  1. I need a nap after just READING that! Whew. But, I suspect you’ve thoroughly treasured their company. If you’d like me to watch Owen for a time tomorrow to ease into things, I’d be happy to. I’ll call you.

  2. That is a very generous offer. I am touched. Right now I think I would like to have him to myself for the day though…I sort of miss just me and him at home. Joey will be there too of course but it will still be a more quiet day.

  3. Hope you can relax today. Don’t worry about the laundry and all the other chores. Kick those feet up, and let Kris know dinner is up to him!

  4. I have announced to my household that I am putting no pressure on myself to make normal all that has been abnormal and will simply spend time with these boys and hopefully feel good enough to get a little laundry done.

Dinner shouldn’t be a problem since we still have a fridge full of left-overs.
