We are home and slowly unpacking everything. Becky is gone to “The Vision” (a three day spiritually renewing retreat put on by our church) and I need to be at her house by 1:00 this afternoon to meet Grace’s school bus and then go get the other two kids at Mother’s day out. I’ll sit with them until Bobby gets home from work and then head back here to continue taking care of my own family. I’ll go back again tomorrow and be there from 8:30 to around 6 so it will be an all day affair tomorrow. I don’t know for sure what we’ll have for dinner these nights since I won’t have much time to prepare. Thankfully I already have something for Kris’ lunch in the fridge and ready to go.
Owen woke up happy this morning as usual and when I went in to pick him up he started performing and playing for me instead of coming to the edge of the crib as he usually does. I asked him if he wanted out and he said “no!” so I told him I’d be back later. He got very quiet and watched me walk out. I didn’t hear him again for about 10 minutes which is when I went back in to give him another chance. This time he quickly let me know he wanted out and there was no silliness.
Owen has also been putting more words together. Instead of his usual “dant-you” when he hands me something, or when I hand something to him, he has started saying “dant-you Owee!” Just before we left last week I noticed when I ask him an either/or question he will almost always answer with this, “um, dee dee dee.” As if he’s thinking about his options and giving me an answer.
To recap our Florida trip (before we get too far off subject) Tuesday was a nice day. We visited Linda’s office at South Eastern and coaxed Owen to show off a bit for all of her co-workers. He wasn’t perfectly cooperative but made a good impression none the less. We then met Meema and aunt Jan along with Josh for lunch at Don Pablo’s. It was nice to see Jan and Josh (can’t believe how big he is) and to get another opportunity to hang out with Meema. Owen must recognize her now because later we went to Target and he saw a woman with hair like hers and started saying “meema! meema!”
Tuesday evening Ursula joined us for dinner and offered to take me to the airport the next day. That was nice because the rest of the gang had to work and one of them would have had to miss a couple hours in order to take me. Ursula works late shifts and odd hours so she was glad to do it. Soon after Ursula left, Christy Salee showed up and visited for a little while. She and Kris have been friends since around Junior High sometime. She didn’t bring her two children but let us know that she and the kids will be taveling up our way soon and would like to stop in and see us.
Keith and Juda (who are now engaged) hung out with us Tuesday night and most of us got to bed at a decent hour so that we could fly away the next day. Before I got up Kenny was leaving for work and Owen evidently had a little crying spell. He really enjoyed his Granddaddy and didn’t want him to leave. We left with Ursula around 9:00 and had plenty of time at the airport to snack a little and play before getting on the plane. It was a good flight and we actually had an extra seat in our row which helped a great deal since Owen didn’t have a ticket and would have otherwise been quaranteened to my lap.
We all went to church in the evening and slept in our own beds last night. It was a fun trip but it’s always good to be together and home again. Now we are looking forward to hosting a few of those we hung out with over the past several days. Keith and Juda are planning to come. Kris’ cousin Stephanie and her fiance’ may come, Kris’ parents are coming and will probably bring Meema, and as I mentioned, Christy Salee and kids at some point. I need to plot some dates so that I don’t forget when they’ll all be here. The Hall family will be coming before all of that so I’ll need to get ready for them too. Exciting times!
Oh…I gained about three pounds too. I have some work to do.
Are you seriously only 120? :O Now how not fair is that?
Yeah, well I’ve been weighing in at 65!…kilos…
