Owen and I have been busy. This morning we were out the door by 9:00 to go to Bible study. Owen played nicely in the nursery while I learned a few things about love and forgiveness. From the church we headed south to Donelson and hit the Post Office on Royal Pkwy. to check the box and mail a check. From there we went to the bank to make a deposit and then turned ourselves East and headed to Wal-mart.
We decided to make a quick pit-stop for a snack at Sonic before getting an oil change and groceries at Wal-mart. Sometimes you have to do that in order to keep yourself from buying everything that sounds good to you at the moment.
We also needed some new shoes for Owen. He is growing out of his tennis shoes and his boots are seasonal of course. He had sandals last summer and they were very versatile as far as what he could wear them with. I decided to look for a new pair and you would think this would be a simple task. Owen was not in the mood to look for new shoes. He screamed, cried and threw a blubbering fit in the shoe aisle. I just decided to ignore it, I popped a pacifier in his mouth and continued trying on sandals. He acted like he was scared to death. The torture I was putting him through by making him try on new shoes. I tried all sorts of different approaches but nothing was helping until I realized the tags were bothering him. Not like irritating his skin, but just irritating his sense of what looked right. I decided to rip the tag off of the one I liked the best and though he was still unhappy about the ordeal…he stopped screaming. Weird!
We got all of our groceries, paid for our oil change and then headed to Auto-zone for wiper blades and a dome light. My car has needed blades for some time and evidently Kris’ does too. I bought five wiper blades and after borrowing a screwdriver from the store I was able to pop the dome light cover and figure out which light bulb I needed for that.
We leave tomorrow for Florida so getting the car ready was a must. The rest of the day will be dedicated to packing and food preparation. Every year I show up empty handed and then feel like a mooch when I realize that everyone brought snacks for the rest of the group. Granted, we travel a lot farther than the rest of the family and therefore have fewer options as to what will travel well, not to mention having a little less time to for that sort of thing, but still…I’m not incapable. This time I’ll be prepared. I’m going to make some Milk Balls and some granola and I’m just about to sign off of here and get started.
Mmmm…Milk Balls. have a great trip! I know Grandma Kelso will!
Sounds like you have a little Kris on your hands. Not the pitching a fit part- the picky part.
Have a great trip. I’ll be in Florida soon too, working of course.
