Let There Be Spring, and There Was Spring and it Was Very Good

What a Day! It’s beautiful outside. Owen and I just got in from a wonderful walk and I’m beat. He is too, in fact I just laid him down in his crib for a nap. I’m going to go clean up and then get started on the kitchen but first…I must blah blah blog.

I think that Yesterday was the first day of Spring and the glorious season really proved itself today. Owen and I went to the Stones River Greenway trail head at the Kohl’s parking lot off of Lebanon Rd. and began an almost 4 mile walk. It was really nice. I pushed him in the stroller and he ate a lot of Cheerios and Puffs while I huffed and puffed up the hills. He seemed to enjoy it and I felt like I got a good workout. I didn’t walk nearly as far as I had intended because the hills were a little more strenuous than I had anticipated. I want to take the bike and trailer down there next time so we can go all the way to the Percy Priest Dam.

The weather is supposed to stay really nice today and I’m hoping that I can allow Owen to play outside when we have to go to Donelson to the old house. We are getting a termite inspection so that we will have our termite letter available at our closing on the 31st.

Yesterday was nice too but not as warm as today. I wish Kris could take the day off when it’s like this. Someday we’ll have that sort of freedom.

The walk along the river today has me looking even more forward to our family reunion coming up next month. The Kelso family gets together every Spring at what is actually a retirement center in Dowling Park, FL for a weekend by the Suwannee River. We try to go canoeing each year but we will be a small group this time and there may not be enough interest. I’m excited for Owen to be amongst the family that he doesn’t often see and also that he will have a wide area to roam at his leisure. He loves to walk around on his own but there are few places where it is safe to allow him this freedom.

Is the phrase “looking even more forward” correct? I don’t think so. I think we use the phrase looking forward incorrectly half the time. I mean…just because you are looking forward to something doesn’t automatically mean it’s a good thing. I’m looking forward to a dentist appointment on Thursday…only because I can’t look back on it. So…looking more forward…really is a stupid thing to say. But then…who of you reading this blog didn’t know what I meant? If the goal is simply to communicate then I’ve done my job.
