Lay back, relax, put your feet up

After days, weeks and months of standing around telling other people what to do, it’s good to just lay back and rest once in a while.

I’m relaxing today. Not that I am doing nothing, on the contrary, I’ve been able to check a few things off the list and just put Owen down for a nap so I can really do some damage. However…I am not doing it with that rushed feeling. The past two days have felt sort of tense because I have been trying to bring a few things to a close before the curtains come together and today…the curtain is already closed. I’m going to enjoy a little private stage time and do some rehearsing for the next big event.

There were plans for a birthday bash here for Brent on Sunday evening…He turned 40 last Sunday and has been out of town in an effort to skip his birthday. That event was canceled, so I am free to go about messing up my floors and kitchen counter-tops without worry or concern. I am also free to spend time with Owen and catch up on all the things he has been learning while I was busy. It’s amazing what you miss when your back is turned for just a minute.

Today…has been so nice. It’s cold outside. I am drinking a big mug of green tea and feeling all cozy in my house. I plan to continue this cozy thing and get some hand sewing done while the weather makes me feel this way.

  1. Hey Mary! I just wanted you to know that I did not forget your birthday, but did not have a chance yet to officially wish you the happy birthday greetings! So Happy Birthday! It sounds like you had a good day. That’s exactly what I would have liked to do, so it doesn’t sound crazy to me. It must be because we’re mothers of small children:) Take care!

  2. Mia! Good to hear from you. I e-mailed both your brothers this week to get pics of your newest neice and nephew. Your parents have some beautiful grandkids. Mine do too, but that’s not the point. Thanks for the birthday greetings and never feel bad about missing my birthday…you and the other Christmas/New Year babies have always had the short end of that stick and need not feel sorry for the rest of us.

  3. Maybe I’m just slow today, but I don’t see what the picture has to do with the post… Are you just over-excited that you figured out how to put pictures in your blog, so now you’re putting anything in there?

  4. And yes…I love putting pictures on my blog and am thinking about doing one every day. It will be a challenge to see if I can find one that matches my mood and circumstances.

  5. I don’t get the photo, either. But I guess I just keep feeling like I should be able to read what is on the tarp thingy. Explain, please.

  6. I guess I have a strange mind. The sign stands around for days weeks and months at a time telling people what to do…now it is laying down…resting as it were.

  7. *That* would have made sense, but I guess i just couldn’t figure out what the pictures was of. The heavy wood base, without scale comparison looked like maybe a fallen barn, or a boat dock…or i don’t know. But, a fallen sign makes sense. I’m not stupid, really.

  8. I’m not sure which is worse – me not knowing what the pictue meant, or you not knowing what the picture was! 🙂
