Thanksgiving is over and it was a great time. We had a very nice trip to Florida complete with a stop in Birmingham, AL on the way down to have lunch with the Button Family and an overnight stop in Tallahassee with Kris’ Grandparents. We were in Lakeland with Kris’ parents for nearly 5 days and enjoyed the time with family very much. Owen had a great time with Grandma and Granddaddy who answered his every wish with toys, food, hugs and kisses and a clean diaper when necessary. Thanksgiving Day was great. We were surrounded by good food and family and had a very relaxing time together.
On Friday we took a trip to Tampa and walked around the zoo for a while with Kris’ family and then had dinner with Shane and Angie Johnson at Maggiano’s Little Italy. If you get a chance to go…get the cheesecake.
The trip home started very early on Saturday morning and Kris and I took turns at the wheel to allow each other some rest. Owen did pretty well considering the length of time he endured in a car seat and other than the rain we hit just south of Atlanta it was a fairly pleasant trip. We were home in time to eat dinner together and watch Shrek 2.
Monday has come and we are back in the swing of things. Kris is off to work and Owen is playing on the floor beside me with blocks from Grandma. November is nearly over and the busy month of December is nearly upon us. There is a lot to plan, a lot to do and a lot to enjoy. Once again my goal is to take each event and task one thing at a time and to enjoy each activity as it comes and for what it is. I can so easily get caught up in the next thing and forget to enjoy what is happening at the time. The next big thing is our trip to Michigan and just after that I am in the church Christmas musical, The Gospel According to Scrooge. We will put up a tree this year since we will actually be home for Christmas. We have decided to wait until after we return from Michigan so that it doesn’t dry up in our absence. I can’t wait to see Owen’s response to Christmas this year. I am hoping for wide eyes and laughter of course.
How strange for you to actually be home for Christmas. I think the whole time we’ve known you guys, you’ve only been in Nashville for one. Do you even own any Christmas decorations?
Not much. What we do have will be extremely swallowed up in this larger living space we now have. I do have a few strands of lights and provided they all still work we will be able to light up a tree at least.
Three words: Old Time Pottery. We got a good amount of Christmas decorations for very little our first year of marriage at that store. And even if there is no budget for store bought decorations, I know that you have plenty of popcorn for popcorn strings. We should have a popcorn stringing party!
