Leaving Town

We’re leaving for Florida tonight. We fly out at 9:20 and get into Tampa by 10:55 our time. It will be almost midnight in Tampa, as they are in the Eastern Time zone. Kris’ brother will pick us up and then we drive the short trek to Lakeland to see Grandma and Granddaddy or as Owen mimicked yesterday “bar-ba” and “Dah-da-day? Too bad her name isn’t Barbara he’s almost got that.

We are really looking forward to getting away. Kris mainly. I’m glad to go, believe me, but I wouldn’t say that I’ve been under the same amount of stress or fatigue that he has. He’s been a trooper and never lets it get him down but I know that a few days away from it all is just what he’s looking for and I’m glad that we have the opportunity to go.

Both of the events we were planning to go to when we bought our tickets are not happening. We first planned to go down because of Kris’ high school reunion. The planners of this event didn’t quite get things in gear as hoped and the event has been scaled down to a possible get together Thanksgiving weekend. Kris’ cousin Trisha is getting married and had planned on this weekend as the date. The only problem is they planned on saying their vows on the beach and it’s a very busy hurricane season in Florida. She has postponed the wedding until next weekend so we will not be able to be there with her.

I haven’t flown in a long time either. I can’t remember exactly when it was that I flew last. I used to fly pretty frequently but that was a long time ago. This will be Owen’s first trip in an airplane but I don’t expect him to notice much. In fact I’m hoping he’ll sleep for most of the trip since it will be so late. Maybe on the trip back to Nashville he’ll be able to take in a little more of his surroundings.

We’re off!

  1. I’m excited for you guys- maybe without the two engagements (as interested as you may have been in going) it will feel more relaxing…like an actual vacation.

  2. Okay…I hope I don’t hear any near death stories when you return! With all the hurricane news, you are in our thoughts and prayers, as is the extended Kelso clan.
